What are the responsibilities and job description for the Children/Youth Coordinator position at Salem United Church of Christ?

Personal Objective: To create a robust children/youth program at Salem United Church of Christ by ensuring that the next generation is inspired to love God, the congregation, and the wider community.
Accountability: This position is accountable to the 1) lead pastor and Christian Educational liaison for the vision of the children/youth program and 2) Church Board in the execution of responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Teach the Sunday School classroom dedicated to children ages 7-12
- Recruit and organize adult volunteers to assist with Sunday School activities
- Assist with the development and implementation of Sunday School curriculum
- Order curriculum and other Sunday School education supplies
- Coordinate children/youth involvement in Sunday worship (acolyte schedule, singing, etc.)
- Collaborate with Christian Education liaison with the recruitment and organization of Vacation Bible School
- Organize two “hands-on theology” workshops throughout the year
- Implement one summer mission project targeting children/youth participation
- Recruit children and youth participation in “hands-on theology” workshops, service projects, and other church activities
- Attend monthly church board meetings and provide updates on children/youth ministry
- Write one article per month for Salem’s monthly newsletter detailing updates about the children/youth program
- Provide regular communication to church members and acquaintances about children/youth programming through the creation of flyers, social media announcements, bulletin boards, and any other helpful mediums
Evaluation: The lead pastor and church board will give on-going informal feedback on performance, responsibilities, and vision of the children/youth program. An annual performance review will be conducted by the personnel committee with evaluative comments gathered from individuals with whom the children/youth coordinator has had direct interaction.
Time Commitment: This position is allotted 5-10 hours weekly with the potential for an increase in hours with the growth of children/youth programming.
Pay: $30.00 per hour
