The Lead Coach Position:
Salem Public Schools is committed to empowering educators and fostering structures that prioritize distributed leadership. Lead Coaches are a critical component of the Academics Department and are members of the Academics Team. SPS is seeking experienced Salem coaches to serve as Lead Coach for the duration of one academic year to perform the following duties during the first and Fourth Mondays monthly from 8-12 at Central Office:

Lead Coach Opportunities Include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop additional lenses to provide input and evaluate and refine systems to apply to future opportunities
- advocating for all students across all schools in district
- advocating all teachers in all content areas across the district
- representing instructional priorities of individual schools across the district
- Cross-functional input, learning, action steps; breaking down of silos
- Gain access to district decision makers for more direct and timely action steps
- Protected time to visit other schools
- Learning from external, and high quality instructional partners by participating in district level planning meetings
- Gain access to district level data available only to District Leadership
- Hours/guidance for additional licenses

- Communicating district messages/priorities with content and building teams
- Ensuring vertical alignment of content and standards
- Analyzing data, relevant guidance, laws, district priorities and values to drive action steps
- Managing grants
- Developing systems to manage all components of the position

- Instructional vision planning that balances the uniqueness of schools and their autonomy with district initiatives and priorities
- Calibration with district leaders to influence districtwide decisions through research, data, and experience

- persuade without a level of authority learn to communicate decisions and information that can be polarizing in ways that honor voices, holds expectations, and eases concerns and anxieties respecting the decision without personal interjection
- Advocacy through representation of the team’s consensus outside of the room as a single POV

Job Requirements:
- Current coach in Salem Public Schools
- Massachusetts educator certification
- SEI endorsement
