POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Director of Sales is responsible for driving topline revenue growth across all group market segments through strategic leadership, proactive sales execution, and effective team management. This role oversees revenue generation from guestroom blocks, banquet functions, golf, spa, and other ancillary services, with a clear focus on profitability and market share growth. The Director of Sales will collaborate closely with the DOSM and DORM to deploy effective yield strategies, contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting, and ensure team performance aligns with established revenue goals. This leader plays a key role in shaping group marketing initiatives, promotional offers, and overall sales strategy to elevate the property’s positioning and deliver an exceptional client experience

Essential Job Functions

  • Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering sales activities to maximize revenue for the property.
  • Prepare, implement, and compile data for the strategic sales plan, annual goals, sales and travel and tradeshow expenses, forecasts, and other reports as directed/required by the DOSM.
  • Collaboratively develop rate strategies, group ceilings and deployment through a thoughtful review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management.
  • Actively participate in sales presentations, property tours, FAM Trips and customer meetings.
  • Conduct/attend daily business review meetings, weekly strategic sales meetings, management meetings and other meetings as required/requested by the DOSM.
  • Serve as the property liaison with the Salamander GSO Team as well as key third-party partners including but not limited to, ALHI, TENEO, Preferred Hotels & Resorts, The Beyond Collection, HelmsBriscoe, Conference Direct and others.
  • Recruit, direct, manage, train and counsel group, transient, catering sales, and conference services staff.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Salamander Collection’s operating principles and philosophies.
  • Professionally represent the property in the community, industry organizations and events.
  • Actively participate as a collaborator with all departments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to all departments.
  • Be a leader and a role model to all employees.

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred .
  • Minimum of five (5) years of sales leadership experience in a fast-paced, luxury hotel or resort environment. Golf experience preferred .

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision.
  • Extensive knowledge of the sales process and closing skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of meeting room capacities, banquet set-up, audio-visual and any other pertinent details related to the sales process.
  • Ability to assess/evaluate employees’ performance fairly.
  • Ability to supervise, train and motivate multiple levels of managers and employees.
  • Knowledge of property and competitive market.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess strong computer skills, including, but not limited to, Delphi Sales & Catering, Microsoft Office Suite, and Profitsword.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and sales-related skills.
  • Excellent organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to process new information quickly and respond aptly to change.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Regularly demonstrate the ability to make thoughtful, data-driven decisions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by property environmental systems.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This includes traveling to and from meetings. The length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the property on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, and other office equipment as needed.

Salary : $135,000 - $150,000
