Activity Coordinator in Senior Suites
Part-time (24 hours/week). Primarily day shifts, occasional weekend and evening activities.
The Activity Coordinator helps residents lead a happy and productive life through tasks done individually or in a large group. The coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive activity program designed to meet the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of the residents. The coordinator promotes resident engagement, enhances quality of life, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with elderly or long-term care residents preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate and resident-centered approach
- Knowledge of dementia care and adaptive activities is a plus
- Certification as a nurse aide or CNA with the ND Department of Health is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, ROLES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize, and conduct individual and group activities appropriate to residents' abilities and interests.
Develop monthly activity calendars and special event programs.
Encourage resident participation and provide one-on-one activities for residents unable to attend group programs.
Assess residents' activity needs, preferences, and functional levels.
Document resident participation and progress in accordance with facility policies.
Coordinate outings, holiday celebrations, annual resident family picnic, and community involvement activities.
Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, and dietary staff to support resident care plans.
Supervise and assist volunteers and activity assistants.
Maintain activity supplies and equipment; request replacements as needed.
Ensure activities comply with safety guidelines and infection control policies.
Support residents' emotional well-being and promote a positive, inclusive environment.
Conducts resident council meetings.
Participates in resident's initial conference and quarterly conferences. Informs resident/family of care plans and care conferences.
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards related to activities programming.
