Position Title: Assistant Director, Student Academic Success (SSS-TRIO/Act 101)
Reports To: Director, Student Academic Success (SSS-TRIO/Act 101)
Primary function: The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director and Student Academic Success staff to develop, plan, and implement SSS-TRIO, Act 101, and SVC programming to help students overcome academic challenges. The Assistant Director will support students with academic coaching in areas such as time management, organization, study skills, note taking, adjusting to college life, career development, financial literacy, and identifying resources on and off campus.
Required Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree required in education or related field, with training in an adjunct area such as student services, developmental education, and/or academic counseling.
Experience: Required work experience in high school or higher education support services, and or/ academic and/or personal counseling.

Essential Duties
The responsibilities of the Assistant Director may include:
- Provide ongoing individual academic coaching to students.
- Lead facilitator for the three-week Summer Bridge Program, including development of a detailed schedule of programming, contact for Academic Coaches, Instructors, Tutors, and Mentors.
- Collaborate campus-wide to provide specific areas of academic focus for students throughout the academic year, as outlined in the SSS-TRIO and Act 101 grant proposals.
- Meet regularly with students to develop academic strategies for success.
- Monitor student academic progress or lack thereof.
- Respond to academic alerts, faculty feedback, and midterm grade reports.
- Help students identify goals and encourage students to seek further assistance from their faculty advisor.
- Contribute to program initiatives and assist in retention efforts.
- Keep necessary records on coaching and tutoring services; submit reports, as requested.
