Church Sexton

Job Overview:

Purpose:

To serve St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church of Springfield, Delaware County, Pennsylvania by caring for the physical plant of the congregation and the nursery school, ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming facility for those who come to the church and school.

Employment Classification:

The Sexton is a full time, hourly employee. FLSA status: non-exempt.

Accountable To:

The Pastor and the Mutual Ministry Committee.

Works closely with the Chair of the Property Committee and the Director of the Nursery School.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide for general cleaning of the facilities. (A general duty roster will be provided and updated as needed based on the needs of the church.)
• Provide light, routine maintenance in consultation with the Property Committee.
• Set up the facilities for the various programs that occur for both the congregation and the community.
• Report issues with the facility, including repair work needed or safety concerns, to the head of the property committee so they may be addressed.
• Responsible for procuring supplies and materials necessary for the completion of the tasks of the position.
• Act as a liaison between the various individuals and groups that use the facilities and the congregation with regard to issues related to the physical plant of St. Matthew.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
