At Saint George Classical Academy we believe that the teacher is the curriculum. Children learn through imitation and we strive to hire teachers who are true examples of faith, wisdom and virtue. Saint George is a classical school, grounded in the Orthodox Christian faith. Our grammar school program is influenced by a Charlotte Mason approach, emphasizing the formation of habits and virtue, inquiry and beautiful literature. We are looking for educators looking for a new professional home where they can unite their faith with their teaching in order to make a positive impact in the lives of our young students and their families. We are seeking someone not just for their experience, but someone who is humbly committed to growing in their practice and journeying with colleagues toward deepening their understanding of what it means to be fully human, and nurturing such questions in our students. The ideal candidate will have: A strong commitment to our school’s mission and to practicing the Christian faith A Bachelor or Master’s Degree in education or related field, an understanding of child development, and a love for children and learning A strong background in teaching reading, and a love for children’s literature A love of math, order and the created world A desire to seek meaning in all things A love of beauty and culture An enthusiasm for classical education or interest in learning more about the classical mode of teaching A commitment to personal growth and participating in professional development within the school community and beyond A positive outlook, good sense of humor and willingness to work hard to build a strong program of study in a new school A love of elementary education and commitment to partnering with parents to meet the needs of each student.
