Summary

The operation of plant equipment is monitored, and repair and/or maintenance work performed to ensure the continuing supply of power, heat, water, compressed air, and medical vacuum.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of an approved apprentice program or equivalent experience is required.
- Must be able to identify and be proficient with all hand and power tools to include multimeter, amp, and probe.
- Proficiency with electricity and fundamentals of wiring is required.
- Monitor plant equipment in the prescribed manner to assure optimum efficiency and prevent or reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
- Record designated pressures and temperatures to assure that plant equipment is operating within prescribed parameters.
- Start, secure, adjust, regulate and control major and associated pieces of equipment to maintain conditions required by the hospital.
- Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment, determine causes of failures/problems and take corrective action.
- Perform preventative maintenance and filter changes according to established schedules.
- Perform basic repairs and those indicated by the computerized diagnostic system.
- Perform all watch standing in the plant. i.e., mix chemicals, fill chemical tanks, check generators, and water softeners.
- Identify and read single line diagram for electrical systems in hospital.
- Identify panels on the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and which panels are the Uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
- Participate in emergency repairs and/or special projects (weekend, holiday, and/or after hours).
- Interpret all alarms in telemetry and generator panel, identifying issues of alarms.
