What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Mold Assessor position at Sailaway?
About us
We are an independent home testing company in Tampa Bay. We test homes for mold, air quality and water. Then we tell people what to fix.
We don’t do remediation. We don’t sell filters. We don’t take kickbacks from contractors. Testing is all we sell, which is why clients trust the results.
What you’ll do
- Run on-site home assessments: moisture and thermal scans, HVAC checks, humidity and air readings
- Collect mold samples (spore traps, tape lifts, dust samples) and send them to the lab
- Collect water samples following lab instructions
- Walk the home with the client and answer questions on site
- Visits run 2 to 6 hours depending on the package
What you won’t do
- Marketing. We book the jobs.
- Report writing. We write every report from your field notes and lab results.
- Chasing payments. We handle billing.
You show up, do great field work and go home.
What you need
- Active Florida mold assessor license (MRSA)
- General liability and errors and omissions insurance as required by Florida law ($1M minimum)
- Reliable vehicle and availability in Pinellas and Hillsborough
- Experience with spore trap sampling and moisture meters
- No ownership in or referral deals with any remediation company
Nice to have
- Level 1 thermography certification
- Home inspector license
- Experience working with clients who have mold-related health concerns
Volume
We’re starting at 2 to 5 jobs a month and expect around 20 a month within a year. You pick the jobs that fit your calendar.
