POSITION OVERVIEW
White Pine Middle School is seeking a passionate, student-centered teacher committed to meeting the academic and developmental needs of middle-level learners. The ideal candidate believes in teaching the whole child, takes ownership of student growth, and adapts instruction to ensure all students—especially those with unique learning challenges—can succeed. Regular, in-person attendance is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (highly preferred)
- Endorsement in Science (DX or DI)
- Middle-level education experience or training preferred
- Additional endorsements in Social Studies(RX or CX), English (BA or BQ)/Language Arts (BX), or Mathematics (EX) desirable but not required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and deliver science lessons aligned with Michigan Academic Standards and NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards)
- Teach a range of science topics, including life science, physical science, and earth/space science
- Design and facilitate hands-on experiments, labs, and inquiry-based learning activities
- Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including students with IEPs and English Language Learners
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom and laboratory environment
- Integrate technology and STEM practices into daily instruction
- Establish and enforce classroom expectations to promote a positive learning environment
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration
- Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives
COMPENSATION
- Approximately 185 workdays (August–June)
- Compensation per Saginaw Township Education Association (STEA) collective bargaining agreement:
- $46,041 starting salary (Bachelor's, no experience)
- $53,882 starting salary (Master’s, no experience)
- Contract through July 31, 2027

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position may require bending, reaching, twisting, pushing or pulling items, lifting or carrying materials up to approximately 40 pounds, and standing and/or walking for extended periods during the workday.
