Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the SECR Security Supervisor, protect the assets of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe including vendors, entertainers, patrons, employees, and structures. This is a seasonal/temporary position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage emergency evacuation procedures in the event of a man-made or natural disaster.
  • Handle irate, disorderly, or intoxicated patrons professionally.
  • Respond to medical emergencies utilizing proper procedures.
  • Observe for any possible criminal activity such as larcenies, weapons, and disputes between patrons or associates and report them.
  • Patrol parking lots for any possible safety or security concerns, criminal activity, or anything out of the ordinary as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:

  • Contact with associates within the organization, including Tribal Police, Surveillance, Tribal Fire, Mobile Medical Response, other agencies, and the general public.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and emergency shifts.


Desired Qualifications:

  • First Aid and CPR certification.


License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safety operations and procedures, safety methods and practices, and public/customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable Tribal, federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Skill in customer service and verbal communication.
  • Skill in sensing or spotting disruptive guests or situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to follow instructions in verbal and written format
  • Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice, and desire to help when dealing with people.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to use good judgment and foresight.
  • Ability to handle irate, disorderly, or intoxicated guests professionally.
  • Ability to use reasoning words to defuse verbal and physical altercations.


Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the facilities and outdoor areas.
  • Required to walk, sit, and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to safely climb up and downstairs and a man-made hill.
  • Occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


Work Environment:

  • Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Required to monitor hundreds to thousands of guests gathered in a designated area where shoulder to shoulder confined space is common. Disruptive behavior and physical altercations may occur.
  • Exposure to hazards associated with first responder duties, including smoke, noxious odors, fumes, chemicals, solvents, oils, and rendering emergency medical services with potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
