Sage Test Prep has been serving students for over 15 years, with locations in Flushing, Jericho, and Little Neck. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including afterschool programs, school subject tutoring, and test preparation for exams such as the SHSAT, SAT, APs, MCAT, and LSAT as well as national competitions. We also have a research program, computer classes, and college consulting. Our mission is to support students academically and guide them toward admission into their desired high schools and colleges.
Description:
We are looking for an experienced and engaging Debate Coach to join our tutoring center. This role involves working with students from elementary through high school, helping them build strong foundations in public speaking, critical thinking, and structured argumentation.
Responsibilities:
- Teach debate and public speaking classes for a range of levels (beginner to advanced)
- Introduce younger students to basic argument structure, reasoning, and confidence in speaking
- Coach middle and high school students in formal debate formats (e.g., Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas)
- Guide students in research, case writing, and rebuttal strategies
- Provide individualized feedback and track student progress
- Prepare interested students for competitions and tournaments
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in debate (high school, collegiate, or coaching required)
- Experience teaching or working with younger students (elementary/middle school) preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to simplify complex ideas
- Patient, engaging, and able to adapt to different age groups
- Reliable, organized, and professional
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
