Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep Support)

Location: San Carlos, CA 94070

Employment Type: Part-time (15-20 hours/week, flexible)

Proposed Schedule:

  • 3-5 days per week, flexible between Monday-Friday, 4-6 hour shifts
  • Flexible hours between 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Compensation: $40–45/hour (based on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

About Our Family:

We are a warm, lively family of five, excited to settle into our recently remodeled home after a year-long adventure of living in various short-term rentals! With three energetic boys (ages 10, 8, and 5), our daily rhythm revolves around school schedules and a variety of activities. The oldest leaves at 7:50 AM to walk to school, and the younger two head out around 8:00 AM for their school day. Both parents work—one works outside of the home, and the other works from home 2-3 days per week. We also have a tortoise as a pet and love spending quality time together as a family. We value a partner who can take on household tasks with enthusiasm and initiative, allowing us to enjoy more family time without the stress of catching up on weekends and evenings.

We’re looking for someone who will be a long-term partner for our family, someone who can grow with us as our needs evolve.

Your primary focus will be supporting our daily household reset while the family is out. This includes tasks like laundry, morning cleanup, and keeping the home organized. You’ll be comfortable working independently with minimal family interaction, but we’d also love someone who is open to providing backup childcare when needed. Efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to complete tasks without constant supervision are vital in this role. We value your great judgment and trust that you will know when to step in and when to let things unfold naturally, making life easier for everyone in the household.

Key Responsibilities:

Household Management & Organization

  • Maintain organized systems for closets, storage, pantry, and toys
  • Reset and tidy rooms daily, ensuring neatness and preparing the home for cleaning services
  • Oversee and manage household schedules and calendars
  • Plan and prepare for family events, holidays, and guest visits
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel
  • Supervise or coordinate with service providers and vendors (e.g., handymen, cleaners, landscapers)
  • Load and unload the dishwasher, wipe down surfaces, and vacuum high-traffic areas
  • Care for and maintain indoor plants

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Monitor and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies
  • Create and manage ongoing household supply lists
  • Coordinate and oversee household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
  • Run errands such as grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping

Meal Planning & Preparation

  • Plan and prep healthy dinners for the family (2-3 times per week)
  • Shop for groceries and meal-related ingredients
  • Clean the kitchen after meal prep and maintain overall kitchen tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels)
  • Manage linens by rotating bedding, refreshing towels, and restocking essentials
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and stocked with necessary supplies

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Schedule and supervise service providers (e.g., cleaners, contractors, landscapers)
  • Oversee outdoor spaces, ensuring light tidying and picking up toys or backyard items

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Coordinate and assist with occasional deep cleaning tasks (e.g., fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Organize and manage special projects such as toy storage, seasonal decorations, and gear rotation
