Construction Site Safety Specialist
The Site Safety Specialist is the face of SMT for our customers.
Safety Management & Training is a leading Safety firm specializing in supplying Safety support for infrastructure projects, and site development. We are committed to delivering high-quality work while maintaining a strong safety culture. We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Construction Safety Representative to help ensure safe operations across all our job sites.
Job Summary
The Construction Site Safety Specialist will oversee safety compliance on construction projects, with a strong focus on safety culture and being proactive in reducing and eliminating risks. This role involves conducting site inspections, leading safety initiatives, and ensuring adherence to OSHA and company safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct safety inspections on active construction sites
· Identify and mitigate hazards related to heavy equipment, confined spaces, water/sewer installations, and underground utilities
· Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and local safety regulations
· Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training sessions
· Investigate incidents and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports
· Maintain safety documentation, permits, and inspection records
· Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to improve safety practices
Qualifications
· 2 years of experience in construction safety
· OSHA 30 certification required
· Strong understanding of construction safety practices and safety standards (e.g., 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P)
· Excellent communication and leadership skills
· Ability to travel to multiple job sites
Certifications
Safety professionals must possess at least one of the following certifications:
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
- ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
- OHST (Occupational Health and Safety)
- STS-C (Safety Train Supervisor- Construction)
- Graduate or Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health)
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in EHS discipline or EHS related field
