We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Code Enforcement Inspector to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- The ideal candidate is a good communicator that is comfortable in an education and enforcement role.
- The person in this role will perform professional level code enforcement that includes investigating and resolving complaints, interpreting codes, writing notices of violations and staff reports, keeping records, and appearing in hearing examiner and legal proceedings.
- Provides notification of issues given in writing, by phone, in person and electronically.
- Schedules and performs systematic property maintenance inspections to maintain or achieve minimum property standards.
- Prepares records and reports pertaining to abatements, court actions, daily activities, enforcement actions and inspections.
- Compiles documentation for and issues summons.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, citizens and elected officials; Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to make presentations
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain City codes and site plans, maps and work plans
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- ICC International Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification, or ability to obtain within twelve (12)months of hire date.
- Work history demonstrating knowledge of code enforcement ,investigating and resolving complaints, interpreting codes, writing notices of violations, staff reports, and keeping records.
- Completion of position-relevant background check
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License and a driving record which meets the city’s requirements.
- Additional consideration may be given for ICC or national inspector certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record required
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Pay Range: $40-43 Hourly.
