American Van, a Safe Fleet company and a leader in the truck equipment manufacturing industry, is looking for a Installation Technician to work as part of a team installing and repairing Automated Tarp Systems.
This important team member partners with others to install Roll-Rite or Pulltarps systems according to company processes, and operating manual instructions. The Installation Technician performs basic wiring, does minor welding and operates industrial sewing machines to repair and produce completed products.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Installations:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior work experience on industrial sewing machines is desired but will train the right candidate.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment:

Installations:
- Basic knowledge of automotive systems
- STRONG mechanical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools
- Proven experience with 12V electrical systems (wiring, troubleshooting, circuit design)
- Ability to install and configure:
- Vehicle alarms and security systems
- Lighting (interior, exterior, LED, strobes)
- Power inverters, battery systems, and auxiliary power setups
- GPS units, cameras, and other electronic accessories
