Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams to diagnose issues accurately.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems using tools such as ohmmeters and other testing devices.
- Perform mechanical systems repair and maintenance on HVAC components, including pumps, fans, valves, and ductwork.
- Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions efficiently.
- Assist with HVAC system design modifications or upgrades based on client needs or project specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of service activities, repairs performed, and parts used for each job.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards such as EPA regulations for refrigerants and proper handling of ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly about system issues and solutions.
- Support field service operations by driving company vehicles safely to various job sites while adhering to all traffic laws.
Qualifications
- Construction experience or prior work in mechanical or electrical trades preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential.
- Service technician experience with HVAC systems or refrigeration equipment highly desirable.
- Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge related to HVAC system repair, installation, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with plumbing systems related to HVAC applications is a plus.
- Experience troubleshooting HVAC/R systems using electrical diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and electrical systems beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record;
driver certification preferred. - EPA certification required for handling refrigerants; additional certifications in ammonia refrigeration or boiler operation are advantageous.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Willingness to work in diverse environments requiring physical activity such as lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
