Range Safety Officer
The Range Safety Officer plays a critical role in delivering a safe, organized and exciting shooting experience to customers from all varying skill levels while providing top tier customer service. The Range Safety Officer must be knowledgeable about firearms, firearms safety and be willing to enforce range safety rules with tact and diplomacy, while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor. The Range Safety Officer must work as a member of a team to ensure safety and security of our staff and customers.
The Range Safety Officer must be able to perform physical tasks which require lifting up to 50 pounds. The Range Safety Officer must be willing to work opening and closing shifts on weekends and weekdays. No exceptions.

Additional Requirements
- MUST be 21 years of age or older
- MUST be a team player
- MUST have OPEN AVAILABILITY
- MUST pass Drug Screening
- MUST be willing to shave ALL facial hair for annual Respiratory Fit testing
- Must be willing to complete biannual Lead Level testing
- MUST have firearms experience
- MUST have intimate knowledge of firearms safe handling procedures
- MUST wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment provided by Saddle River Range.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- NRA Range Safety Officer certification preferred
- Military and/or law enforcement veteran preferred
- Have or willing to obtain Texas LTC preferred
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide top tier customer service to customers at all times
- Responsible for educating any and all range users on proper range safety practices while exhibiting customer service and professionalism when rule enforcement is necessary.
- Alert and mindful of firearms safety, accident prevention and risk management.
- Engage in quality communication with the customer, helping them choose firearms to rent and suggest additional necessary supplies for a safe and enjoyable shooting experience.
- Assist new and inexperienced shooters on the range with basic safety information and recommending instructor training.
- Engage with and understand our customers, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication using strong interpersonal skills.
- Conduct daily maintenance on the ranges following all OSHA procedures and Saddle River Range policies.
- Maintaining accurate and current records in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and requirements.
- Use tact and diplomacy when enforcing federal, state and local laws.
- Use tact and diplomacy when enforcing store polices, guidelines and procedures including those for safety and security, to ensure the safety of all customers and staff.
- Assist with cashier duties.
- Complete any additional duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Available to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to follow operating policies and standards and comply with company dress code.
- Must be safety conscious and able to maintain strong attention to detail for an extended period of time.
- Able to maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep range operating to safety standards.
- Ability to work in an environment that regularly has high levels of noise, dust, and possible exposure to lead.
- Ability to set-up, clean, and maintain ranges as needed including painting, grinding and use of small hand tools.
- Must wear personal safety equipment including, eye and ear protection, respirator masks and Tyvek suits.
- Must work as part of a team in close quarters.
- Firearms cleaning.
