Required Qualifications

  1. High School diploma or equivalent; and
  2. Two years post-secondary education (minimum of 60 semester credits/90 quarter college credits); or
  3. Pass an academic assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of and ability to assist in the instruction of reading and math;

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  2. Math/ELA Skills encouraged
  3. Educator Licensure
  4. Prior experience working with students preferred                               

Purpose

 

Under direction of the school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students in designated subject areas(s), math, reading, etc. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure student success. Supervises students in a variety of school related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

 

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Performs instructional activities as planned, assigned and organized by professional staff for individual and/or small groups of students
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the needs, interests and abilities of individuals to ensure student success.
  • On a regular and consistent basis, meets and instructs assigned students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
  • Provides an instructional program to meet the needs of all students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, requirements of BSD curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development.
  • Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, BSD policy and administrative regulation.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Establishes relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
  • Participates in school management and shares responsibility for the total school program.
  • Be in attendance at parent-teacher meetings when applicable to provide updates regarding progress, attitude, and the student’s effort.
  • Consult with teachers when appropriate and maintain updated lesson plans for all core teachers.
  • Attend academic committee meetings as requested by the Building Principal.
  • Consult with teachers regarding academic concerns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
  • Knowledge of classroom safety practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to be flexible to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances. 
  • Ability to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups and utilize specific, job-related equipment.
  • Ability to problem solve to analyze issue.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, the public, and staff members.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to manage time and responsibilities, adapt to changing work priorities, communicate with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality, meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Ability to set priorities, work as part of a team and work with and manage frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student matters.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board policies.
  • Skill in adhering to safety practices.

 

Necessary special requirements:

  • Montana Driver’s license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date.
