Responsibilities
- Assess students' literacy skills to identify areas of need and develop individualized intervention plans.
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies to support early literacy development in small group and one-on-one settings.
- Monitor student progress through regular assessments and adjust interventions as necessary.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate literacy interventions into the general curriculum.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies to support literacy at home.
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages students.
- Stay current with research and trends in early literacy education and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions, and report data as required by school administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
- Experience working with early learners in an educational setting, preferably in literacy intervention.
- Strong understanding of early literacy development and effective instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to analyze student data and use it to inform instruction.
- Passion for fostering a love of learning in young children.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per School Board policy.
