Job Summary:
Sacred Hearts Academy is a Catholic, college?preparatory school dedicated to educating and empowering girls and young women to become compassionate leaders in their communities and the world. Reporting directly to the Upper School Principal, the College Counselor plays a critical leadership role in guiding students through the college preparation, application, and transition process, with primary responsibility for senior?year college counseling and continued support of juniors engaged in early college planning.
This position focuses predominantly on students entering the college admissions process, with an emphasis on Grade 12 counseling and strategic guidance for Grade 11 students as they begin college exploration. The counselor brings demonstrated experience in college counseling and provides comprehensive, individualized advising to students and families throughout all phases of the college journey, including college research, application strategy, timelines, decision?making, and postsecondary transition. The role also supports students’ academic planning and social?emotional well?being as they prepare for life beyond high school.
Responsibilities include delivering grade?level college counseling lessons, leading parent workshops, interpreting academic and standardized testing data, and ensuring students meet graduation requirements and postsecondary goals. The counselor collaborates closely with faculty and administrators to advocate for students, coordinate supports, and maintain a cohesive college counseling program.
As the lead college counselor, this role ensures students are well prepared for a confident, successful transition to college and beyond while upholding the mission and values of Sacred Hearts Academy.

Applicant Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Counseling (70%)
- Provides comprehensive academic, social?emotional, and college counseling to students in Grades 11–12, with particular focus on senior?year milestones and postsecondary planning.
- Builds strong, supportive relationships with students and remains accessible to ensure individualized guidance throughout the college preparation and decision?making process.
- Delivers individualized academic and postsecondary planning for students and families, including course selection, graduation requirements, college readiness, and transition planning.
- Supports students through key components of the college exploration, application, and decision process, including college research, application timelines, personal statements, and related requirements.
- Facilitates grade?level guidance lessons and workshops in small?group and classroom settings addressing college readiness, social?emotional development, and important academic and school milestones.
- Designs and facilitates parent workshops and informational sessions related to college planning, senior?year expectations, and postsecondary transitions.
- Consults and collaborates with parents, teachers, administrators, and relevant support personnel regarding student academic progress, educational planning, and accommodations.
- Reviews and interprets standardized testing data with students and families to support academic growth and college planning.
- Assists in organizing and administering standardized testing programs, and communicates results to appropriate stakeholders.
- Identifies students who may benefit from targeted or intensive interventions and coordinates support services with behavioral health specialists and external agencies as appropriate.
- Participates in parent?teacher conferences and interdisciplinary meetings to advocate for students and support their academic and postsecondary goals.
- Provides exposure to a wide range of postsecondary options, including four?year colleges and universities, gap?year programs, and other pathways aligned with students’ interests and goals.
- School Activities (20%)
- Responsible for attending all masses and faculty events such as in-service training sessions, retreats, assemblies, Mass of the Holy Spirit, Annual Conference for Catholic Educators, Faith Formation, etc..
- Supports and attends appropriate student activities and events, such as Baccalaureate Mass, Commencement, Open House, admissions testing, parent events and supervision of Academy-sponsored student events such as dances, Freshman Mother/Daughter
- Banquet, Sophomore Father/Daughter; Junior Prom, Senior Prom, Senior Ohana Luncheon, Academy Uncorked, and performances.
- Performs other related duties as assigned (10%)
- Serves as a lead representative of the school in certain capacities (e.g., college visits, conferences, workshops, off-campus meetings)
- Actively participates as an effective member of the team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
