Applicant Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. (degrees and course credits must be earned from a nationally or internationally accredited college or university)
- One year of experience teaching at the elementary level, including instruction in core subjects (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) – OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed above.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work outside normal business hours, if necessary.
- Must be able to understand, read/ write in English to follow basic instructions, and take, direction from supervisors and clients.
- Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with Virtus/Safe Environment policy.
- Able to work all required shifts and possible extended hours.
- Ability to implement faith-based curriculum consistent with the Academy’s Catholic mission. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field.
- Three years of teaching experience with a robust understanding of content area curriculum and effective instructional methodologies.
- Thorough knowledge of the subject area(s) to be taught and ability to develop interdisciplinary curriculum related to subject matter.
- Knowledge of instructional methods that are age appropriate for assigned grade levels.
- Ability to work with and encourage students in the assigned grade levels toward accomplishing their personalized educational goals.
- Ability to differentiate and personalize instruction to meet varying student needs.
- Manage small and large groups of students in various instructional environments.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, counselors, and school administrators.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, in multi-aged environments.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; strong organization skills; handling multiple tasks and projects, and good judgement.
- Demonstrated ability to protect and maintain confidential information.
- Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilizes excellent time and stress management skills.
- Classroom Management & Instruction (70%)
- Create and maintain a positive, creative, and supportive learning environment that encourages a growth mindset.
- Supports student learning and development through written, verbal and hands-on coaching and modeling in a positive and a supportive manner.
- Be responsible for the instruction, supervision, safety, and well-being of assigned students during class time, advisory periods, supervision duties, and on and off campus school activities.
- Monitor student behavior and interactions, positively correcting and coaching students to promote respectful, mannerly, and responsible conduct.
- Review and administer appropriate corrective actions in cases of student misconduct, in accordance with school policies.
- Respect individual student differences and implement appropriate strategies to support diverse needs within classroom.
- Supervise students as assigned by administration, including: Grades P-6: morning supervision, snack, lunch, recess, after school, and auto line supervision Grades 7-12: recess or lunch period and auto line supervision
- Serve as an advisor for one student club, as assigned
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Attend and assist in supervising students at Mass, religious celebrations, and other school sponsored programs as required.
- Maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct, including appropriate online presence.
- Communicate with students via email or phone strictly for school related matters and in accordance with school policies.
- Work collaboratively and in close harmony with administration and colleagues to support student success. This includes:
- Attend faculty, department, parent teacher, and consultation meetings with parents and students to address academic or behavioral concerns.
- School Activities (20%)
- Responsible to attend all masses and faculty meetings; where applicable teacher will attend faculty in-service training sessions, retreats, assemblies, and school functions to include; Academy ceremonies such as graduation, Baccalaureate Mass, Commencement, Spring Open House, Fall Open House, Faculty Beginning of the School Year In-Service, Faculty Retreat, Mass of the Holy Spirit, Annual Conference for Catholic Educators, Faith Formation, Admissions testing, parent events and supervision of Academy-sponsored student events such as dances, Freshman Mother/Daughter Banquet, Sophomore Father/Daughter; Junior Prom, Senior Prom, Senior Ohana Luncheon, Academy Uncorked, and performances.
- Performs other related duties as assigned (10%)
- Serves as community relations liaison for company
- Actively participates as an effective member of the team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
