Position Title: Prep Science Teacher – Biology (Long Term Sub) Department: Prep Reports To: Department Head FLSA Classification: Exempt FTE (Full-Time Equivalent): 100%; the typical school day is 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Schedule of Duties: 10-Month, Temporary (August to November) Salary: $82,000- $173,502 annually (at 100%FTE) depending upon level of education and experience Position Purpose: The Science Teacher prepares curriculum and teaches biology to high school students grades 9-12. Specific Expectations for Prep Faculty: In addition to regular teaching and duties, the following duties and responsibilities are expected as part of the faculty workload: chaperoning, community responsibilities, professional development and trainings, classroom substitution, holding office hours, proctoring exams, admission interviews, and attendance of, or participation in, mandatory meetings and/or events (e.g. Director’s Day, open houses, Schools’ annual auction), as required and directed by your supervisor. All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law and SHS policy. Essential Functions Teaches biology successfully to high school students. Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and student resources. Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records. Evaluates student work and provides meaningful feedback to guide learning / growth. Maintains regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students. Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction. Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning.
