- Professional development as required by your supervisor, work beyond your regular hours when required by your supervisor, and attendance at, or participation in, mandatory meetings and/or events as directed by your supervisor.
- All non-exempt employees are required to accurately track their time and paid time-off in the payroll system.
Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrates strong leadership in player development, staff development, sportsmanship, integrity, and character formation.
- Recommends, hires and supervises assistant varsity coaches in collaboration with the Assistant Principal, Athletics and Girls Athletic Director.
- Leads instruction for student-athletes in the technical skills, tactical understanding, and physical preparation necessary to achieve individual and team success.
- Creates and sustains a team culture that promotes learning, positive character development, sportsmanship, and respect in alignment with the Sacred Heart Schools Goals and Criteria.
- Oversees and supports the alignment and development of the Girls Soccer program, including collaboration with sub-varsity coaches and teams.
- Works cooperatively with athletic administration and the broader school community to support the academic and co-curricular aspirations of student-athletes.
- Maintains appropriate supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices, competitions, and team travel.
- Supervises practices, competitions, tournaments, and team trips.
- Ensures compliance with all CIF, CCS, WBAL, and Sacred Heart Schools athletic policies and bylaws.
- Continues to update knowledge of the technical and tactical aspects of soccer and demonstrates a willingness to learn and implement new ideas and best practices related to coaching and athlete development.
- Collaborates with the school’s athletic trainers and athletic performance staff to support the health and performance of student-athletes.
- Works in a proactive, positive, and realistic manner to support the college athletics aspirations of team members where appropriate.
- Works collaboratively with student-athletes and families to balance school and club soccer commitments in a manner that prioritizes the Sacred Heart Schools program and student well-being.
- Coordinates with the Assistant Principal, Athletics and Girls Athletic Director on program administration including scheduling, equipment and uniform management, transportation logistics, officials scheduling, and other operational needs.
- Establishes and implements appropriate procedures for addressing concerns that may arise from players or parents in collaboration with athletic administration.
- Attends required athletic department meetings including monthly coaches meetings, preseason parent meetings, and the annual coaches leadership workshop.
- Organizes end-of-season individual player meetings and coordinates postseason team recognition activities.
- May be required to transport student-athletes to competitions using school vehicles in accordance with Sacred Heart Schools driving policies.
- Adheres to all Sacred Heart Schools policies related to student safety, safeguarding, and mandatory reporting obligations.
- A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools, including a commitment to equity, inclusion, and professional conduct.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; college degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years previous soccer coaching experience, preferably at the varsity level. Experience in an independent school environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, organize, and supervise a successful high school soccer program.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the skills, tactics, and rules of interscholastic Girls Soccer in California.
- Ability to model ethical leadership consistent with Sacred Heart Schools Goals and Criteria.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a broad and diverse school community including students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Basic proficiency with common technology platforms including email, shared documents, and team communication tools.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated reliability, attendance, and punctuality.
- Must successfully complete LiveScan fingerprinting and background check.
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record. Clearance will be subject to California Vehicle Report review and Sacred Heart Schools insurance standards.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and climbing stairs.
- Work in varied indoor and outdoor environments including soccer fields, athletic facilities, training rooms, offices, and travel environments, including exposure to varied weather conditions.
- Fast-paced, student-centered environment requiring mental focus and physical activity.
- Must comply with all applicable school health and safety requirements.
