Position Title: LMS Instructional Coach
Department: P-8
Reports To: Principal of P-8
FLSA Classification: Exempt
FTE (Full-Time Equivalent): 50%
Schedule of Duties: 11-Month
Position Purpose: The Instructional Coach promotes a culture of growth and reflection by operating a coaching model and provides sustained educator support with a relationship-first approach.
Specific Expectations for P-8 Staff: In addition to regular responsibilities, P-8 staff are expected to contribute to the broader school community and support program growth. This includes building a strong sense of community for students, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, engaging in professional development and training opportunities, and attending required meetings and events, such as Director’s Days, Open Houses, accreditation meetings, and class overnight trips, as directed by your supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Provide tailored mentoring support to new and veteran faculty with compassion, asset-based thinking, teacher-driven goals, and a clear understanding that support is always available.
- Partner with teachers to implement both micro-coaching and ongoing coaching cycles with a growth-mindset.
- Gather and look at classroom data with teachers to guide professional growth needs in a way that feels like a collaborative problem of practice rather than a critique.
- Through regular classroom observations and visits, provide high-quality, specific feedback.
- Cultivate and create targeted professional development.
- Provide program insight; communicate data and findings to help evaluate programs and morale.
- Stays abreast of current research and trends in education and related fields.
- Coordinates with Directors of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure fidelity of instructional program and maintenance of K-8 scope and sequence .
- Coordinates with the Director of New Faculty Programming to support educators new to Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BA degree, ideally in the field of education.
- Experience and demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching.
- Demonstrated skills in instructional coaching, adult learning, and/or management of teams.
- Facility with curricular programs including Reading and Writing Workshop, evidence-based language arts instruction, Singapore Math, Responsive Classroom.
- Strong knowledge base of and commitment to best practices in equitable teaching and learning.
- Available and approachable, active listener.
- Deep understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and context associated with Sacred Heart Atherton’s mission and educational philosophy, as evidenced in Sacred Heart Schools Goals & Criteria, and its identity as an independent, Catholic school.
- Eagerness to engage actively with teachers and administrators.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Works in an often highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
- Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment and intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold typical to the Mid-Peninsula in the Bay Area.
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. and regularly travel safely and comfortably over a 63 acre campus
- Available and willing to attend and work some evenings/weekends and on occasional overnight trips.
- Abide by school’s current safety policies (ex: wearing masks, washing hands, etc.)
Salary : $52,500 - $67,500
