Are you interested in supporting youth sports, trying out coaching, earning money, and maybe getting in a workout of your own, all at the same time?
We are seeking independent contractors to help coach our JLS Middle School cross country team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist athletes in following the training program designed by the head coach.
- Supervise off-campus runs, which may include running or biking.
- Time interval workouts (repeated short runs with rest in between).
- Help athletes stay safe
- Foster a strong team culture.
Qualifications:
- Experience in coaching or participating in cross country and track and field is desired but not required.
- Parents or individuals with no prior coaching experience but a strong interest in youth sports are welcome to apply.
- Those with experience and interest may take on additional responsibilities.
Project Details:
- Duration: 10 weeks starting on 8/17/2026 and ending 10/21 to 10/25/2026.
- Schedule: Four 75-minute practices, with each coach attending two to four. Considering either M-Tu-Th-F or M-W-F-Su depending on coach availability. Specific times are:
- Mondays: 2:45-4:00 PM
- Tuesdays: 3:30-4:45 PM
- Wednesdays: 2:45-4:00 PM
- Thursdays: 3:30-4:45 PM
- Fridays: 2:00-3:15 PM
- Sundays: 10:00-11:15 AM
- Expected attendance: Approximately 60 athletes, with 2 or 3 coaches at each practice depending on the type of practice.
- Compensation: $50/hour. Volunteering without pay is also an option for those interested.
