Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards in literacy, math, science, social studies, and other core subjects.
- Incorporate learning technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation and grading.
- Provide individualized support and tutoring to students needing extra help.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and school-wide initiatives.
- Mentor new teachers or interns, sharing best practices in classroom management, lesson planning, and working with children of diverse backgrounds.
- Engage with parents and guardians through clear communication about student progress and classroom activities.
- Support students’ social-emotional growth by implementing early intervention strategies when necessary.
- Contribute to school administration efforts by participating in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and library services.
Skills
- Proven classroom experience with children in elementary education settings; private school experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively work with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Proficiency in learning technology tools used for instruction and assessment purposes.
- Skilled in curriculum development across core subjects such as literacy education, math, science, and social studies.
- Expertise in classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and engagement.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques is preferred.
- Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners using differentiated instruction methods like Montessori or early intervention approaches.
- Writing skills necessary for proofreading student work, creating instructional materials, and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures to prepare students effectively for assessments.
