FLSA Status: Non-exempt.

Hours/Week: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Temporary position.

Reports To: Food Services Director, School Principal

Job Goal: Assist in preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals to students and staff; wash dishes and maintain a clean, efficient, and welcoming environment while supporting the mission and vision of the Catholic school.

Essential Functions:

• Participates in the serving and preparation of food in accordance with the instructions of the Food Services Director.
• Assists in the daily cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen, equipment, dishes, and utensils.
• Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen according to guidelines established by the State and County Health Departments, USDA, and Food Services Director.
• Uses proper procedures with receiving and storage of food and kitchen supplies.
• Maintains a good working relationship in a healthy atmosphere with students and staff.
• Communicates effectively with other employees, creating productivity and satisfaction in the workplace.
• Reports to the Food Services Director any faulty or inferior food quality which is made or received.
• Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Has regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs necessary duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required or Preferred: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Knowledge of USDA guidelines and County Health Departments Safe Food Handling Guidelines preferred. Previous work experience in food service in a facility of comparable size is preferred. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with coworkers, students, staff, parents, and members of the public required.

• Speak, hear, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing using proper grammar and vocabulary.

• Must be able to position items over and under, push, pull, move and or lift a minimum of 10 pounds and be able to push, pull, move and or carry such weight a minimum distance of 10 feet.

Cognitive: Duties require a wide range of intellectual and practical, problem-solving skills and comprehension of complex concepts.
