After School Care Associate

Hours/Week: School Days, M - F, 3:15 PM - 5:30 PM

Reports To: After School Care Coordinator, Principal

Job Goal: To provide safe, dependable, and caring supervision for students in the after school childcare program while engaging with them through activities, play, and positive interactions.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrate interest in and ability to work effectively with young children.
• Demonstrate emotional maturity, patience, dependability, and professionalism.
• Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to learn, assist where needed, and take on new responsibilities.
• Meet all applicable Iowa HHS requirements, including required background checks, training, and all certifications, including First Aid and CPR .
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with children, families, and staff.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow policies and procedures. Ability to perform the physical duties of the position and actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
• Such additional qualifications as the Board or administration may find appropriate.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Actively supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to the individual and developmental needs of children.
• Treat all children with dignity, respect, patience, and care. Assist the Program Coordinator with planning, implementing, and evaluating program activities.
• Work cooperatively with the Program Coordinator and other staff to provide a positive childcare and workplace environment.
• Communicates concerns, needs, and staffing matters appropriately with the Program Coordinator.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized program space.
• Follow established procedures for student attendance, sign-in, sign-out, and authorized pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Work Location: In person
