Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized behavioral intervention plans based on comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and patient assessments.
- Conduct intake interviews to gather detailed client histories and establish treatment goals aligned with each person’s unique needs.
- Apply behavioral therapy techniques, including applied behavior analysis (ABA), to promote skill acquisition and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Collect, record, and analyze data meticulously during therapy sessions to monitor progress and inform ongoing treatment adjustments.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency across environments and maximize client outcomes.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including behavioral health records, progress notes, and treatment plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform patient care duties such as behavioral health screenings, assessments, and diagnostic evaluations to determine appropriate interventions.
- Participate in ongoing training related to medical terminology, disability rights, special education practices, and best practices for working with individuals with disabilities.
- Support the intake process by evaluating new clients’ needs and coordinating initial assessments with relevant healthcare professionals.
- Ensure confidentiality of all medical records and sensitive information while adhering to privacy standards set by HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in psychology, special education, social work, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Strong knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Experience in data collection methods used to track behavioral progress effectively.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, patient assessment procedures, and medical documentation practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a patient-centered approach.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients’ families and team members clearly and compassionately.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations governing patient privacy and confidentiality.
