Who We Need
The Director of Cybersecurity is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving Sabel Systems’ enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy, governance, and risk management programs. This role ensures that all information assets, systems, and infrastructure remain secure, compliant, and resilient—especially within the context of defense contracting, CMMC requirements, and NIST-based frameworks.
This position reports directly to the Head of Information Technology and leads a team of cybersecurity and compliance professionals while also managing key cybersecurity vendor partners, services, and third-party engagements. The Director of Cybersecurity works collaboratively across IT, operations, and program teams to safeguard Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), strengthen cyber maturity, and support Sabel’s continued growth as a trusted DoD partner.

Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the enterprise cybersecurity vision, roadmap, and policies aligned to corporate objectives and DoD regulatory obligations.
- Serve as the senior cybersecurity advisor to the Head of IT and executive leadership, providing regular updates on cyber risks, threats, investments, and overall security posture.
- Lead incident response preparedness, execution, and post-incident improvement cycles.
Compliance & Governance
- Oversee full lifecycle compliance with CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification), ensuring continuous readiness, audit preparation, and adherence to all required practices and controls.
- Manage and maintain cybersecurity governance aligned with NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, NIST CSF, and other applicable federal frameworks.
- Develop and manage cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring they reflect current DoD requirements and best practices.
- Act as primary liaison with external auditors, assessors, government security offices, and regulatory bodies.
- Act as a liaison between cybersecurity professionals on billable programs to ensure a unified vision of cyber-compliance across the enterprise
Risk Management
- Build and maintain a robust Information Security Risk Management Program.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments, vulnerability evaluations, and threat modeling across Sabel’s IT, cloud, and operational environments.
- Implement measurable controls that reduce risk exposure and support business continuity.
Operational Security & Architecture
- Oversee enterprise monitoring, detection, and response capabilities.
- Ensure secure architecture and technical controls across networks, endpoints, cloud environments, and critical applications.
- Guide secure development practices, software supply chain integrity, and data protection mechanisms.
- Manage relationships with cybersecurity vendors, assess their effectiveness, and ensure outsourced services meet Sabel’s standards for security and compliance.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of cybersecurity and compliance professionals, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
- Provide training, awareness programs, and cross-functional education to strengthen organizational cybersecurity posture.
- Partner with IT leadership to ensure coordinated, cohesive efforts across infrastructure, operations, and compliance.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Related experience will be considered
Professional Experience
- 8–10 years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including leadership roles overseeing enterprise programs.
- Direct experience supporting or working within a Department of Defense (DoD) contracting environment is required.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and managing NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, and CMMC compliance programs.
- Proven success leading incident response, risk management, security architecture, and governance initiatives.
- Experience managing internal teams as well as external vendor relationships and service providers.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions
Certifications
Preferred certifications include:
- CISSP
- CISM
- CCSP
- Security or CASP
- CISA, CRISC, or other governance and risk credentials
- Additional DoD 8570/8140 certifications strongly desired.

Salary and Benefits
The range for this position is between $160,000 and $210,000. Actual salary will be negotiated with this position’s Hiring Manager and can vary depending on the following factors: Billable contract and labor category, experience, skills, education /certifications/ licenses & geographic location.
