Position Summary

The CADC Program Director is responsible for assessing the needs of adult dual-diagnosed patients and providing psychoeducation on the disease model of treatment. The CADC delivers individual and group therapies consistent with the patient’s plan of care.

Responsibilities And Duties

Assessment

  • Complete Alcohol and Substance Abuse (Drug) Assessments using the CADC Audit tool.
  • Assess discharge/aftercare needs of detox and dual-diagnosed patients and facilitate linkage to required services.
  • Evaluate each patient’s level of functioning and readiness to return to the community.


Therapy

  • Conduct daily substance abuse group meetings.
  • Provide individual counseling for assigned patients.
  • Lead educational groups on the disease model of treatment.
  • Facilitate relapse prevention groups.
  • Complete daily progress notes.
  • Coordinate with local Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous chapters to establish institutional (closed) groups for Outpatient Mental Health Services.
  • Serve as a role model for interpersonal communication and problem-solving.
  • Identify measurable goals, share care plans with patients, families, and staff.
  • Follow policies related to patients in restraints.
  • Maintain awareness of patient comfort and safety needs.
  • Observe patients and report significant conditions or reactions to supervisors or physicians.
  • Update care plans to include interventions for alcohol and substance abuse.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Quality Improvement & Safety

  • Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain consistent awareness of safety and infection control practices.
  • Document nursing interventions, patient responses, patient/family teaching, and discharge planning.
  • Advocate and support unit, hospital, and nursing activities.
  • Maintain competency in required skills and comply with associated policies.
  • Share knowledge through patient care conferences, in-service education, and nursing committees.
  • Stay current with trends in nursing practices and technology.
  • Maintain personal education records.


Qualifications

  • Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the substance abuse field
