Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and hygiene.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support medication administration and manage medication schedules following prescribed instructions.
- Facilitate patient transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safety during mobility assistance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering positive communication and engagement with clients.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through routine cleaning tasks and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Document patient observations, care activities, and incident reports accurately to ensure seamless communication within the care team.
- Assist with transportation needs for appointments or community outings while ensuring client safety at all times.
- Support clients with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease by implementing specialized memory care strategies.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and memory care practices.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring tools such as vital signs measurement and medication administration procedures.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in HIPAA compliance or hospice care are advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or intellectual disabilities is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation; compassionate caregiving attitude essential.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift heavy objects safely, and perform caregiving duties over extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation is a plus for assisting with community outings or appointments.
