What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Secretary position at Saalfeld Griggs PC?
Saalfeld Griggs is looking to hire a full-time Legal Secretary to join our Estate Planning Group. Together with a support network of other staff and attorneys available to help you succeed and feel confident, you will begin developing and tracking case information to assist attorneys in their work. Our ideal candidate is organized, motivated, and can communicate well with others on the team and with our clients. Starting hourly wage is commensurate with experience.
In this role, you will:
- Perform secretarial and administrative duties for practice group, including: answering client inquiries, scheduling appointments, filing, and typing letters, memos and reports
- Prepare necessary forms, paperwork, and rooms for client meeting
- Monitor calendars and deadlines
- Input information in our document management databases
- Review and confirm case status with your attorney
- Maintain contact with clients and others involved in the matter
- Gather and review information from clients
- Provide back-up coverage for reception desk as needed
- Other duties include: scanning, copying, transcribing, data entry, and a majority of non-billable tasks for the practice group
- Work both independently and collaboratively with other team members
Required skills and experience:
- No prior legal experience necessary
- Associate's degree preferred
- At least 1 year of office experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of document management and timekeeping programs preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable and predictable attendance and performance of the essential job functions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Positive and professional demeanor
