Yard Supervisor

SA Recycling, a recognized leader in the metal recycling industry, is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Yard Supervisor. The Yard Supervisor will primarily be responsible for overseeing the daily work activities of all yard personnel. You will provide leadership, guidance and direction in yard organization, inventory handling and control, the promotion of a safe working environment, obtainment of operational goals, and backing up the General Manager as needed.

Responsibilities of a Yard Supervisor

• Champion a positive and safe work environment for all employees, customers, suppliers, and vendors.
• Assist in the safety and security of the employees, inventory, and equipment, as well as identifying and implementing the appropriate operations, maintenance, and training certifications for all applicable employees.
• Partner with the General Manager on the development of daily operational plans and the assignment of employees to meet stated goals.
• Set example for, and monitor employees for adherence to, safety, quality, and environmental goals and guidelines.
• Mentor, lead, and train yard personnel.
• Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of all yard activities in meeting quality and operational goals.
• Supervise yard operations to include the loading and unloading, sorting, and processing of all scrap materials.
• Responsible for interacting effectively and respectfully with all yard personnel, suppliers, customers, and other visitors.
• Complete daily inspections and reports.
• Back up General Manager as needed with all employee training, operations and EHS audits and inspections, and other duties as needed.

Qualifications of a Yard Supervisor

• High School Diploma, or GED; Bachelors or Associates Degree in a related field of study preferred.
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in the scrap metal or related industry preferred.
• 2 years of supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing or production setting preferred.
• Ability and willingness to work in an outdoor environment and in all types of weather.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal).
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
