Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance operations of a refrigerated warehouse facility, ensuring all systems and equipment function efficiently and safely. This role oversees preventative and predictive maintenance programs, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and support production goals. The Maintenance Manager plays a key role in developing a safety-first culture, training and developing maintenance personnel, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Skills and Responsibilities
- Safety & Compliance: Promote a safety-first culture by ensuring proper lockout/tagout procedures, maintaining E-stops and safety guards, and reinforcing 5S standards to support safe, organized, and efficient work environments.
- Team Training & Development: Train and mentor maintenance personnel; assess and develop skill sets to enhance troubleshooting and equipment maintenance capabilities.
- Equipment Operations: Ensure the normal operation of all warehouse systems and equipment, including HVAC and chill units in refrigerated environments (33°F–50°F).
- Downtime Analysis: Review equipment downtime and implement updates to preventative maintenance plans or predictive maintenance solutions.
- Maintenance Scheduling: Prepare and distribute weekly maintenance schedules aligned with departmental labor and overtime plans.
- Emergency Response: Lead emergency breakdown response and troubleshooting to minimize production interruptions.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate and implement procedures and equipment changes to improve maintenance effectiveness and ensure compliance with EHS and building codes.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop and track KPIs; implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance maintenance operations.
- CMMS Utilization: Use computerized maintenance management software (e.g., MaintainX) to log repairs, analyze failure trends, and manage maintenance records.
- Shift Planning: Support seasonal capacity increases by planning for second-shift maintenance coverage as needed.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, including labor, contractors, parts, and inventory.
- Strategic Planning: Participate in S&L management team meetings to align maintenance goals with business objectives and capital planning.
- Adaptability: Willingness to perform other work-related duties as assigned and support team needs as required.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in related field preferred.
- 5 years management experience with maintenance department, ideally in manufacturing, food processing, or related field.
- Proven track record of leadership development amongst a team and a personality that seeks to achieve goals and a lead by example approach from the floor/on a machine.
- Proven leadership and people management skills in a high-paced, multicultural environment.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical systems and programming software.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems; HVAC certification a plus.
- Self-motivated to work independently in a busy environment with changing priorities and the ability to adapt.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to food manufacturing, warehousing, and GMPs.
- Experience working within OSHA safety guidelines and ISO standards.
Competencies
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with MaintainX or similar computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.

Pay: $91,778.00 - $110,000.00 per year
