What are the responsibilities and job description for the Morning Baker position at Rye Goods?
Rye Goods bakery is made up of a diverse group of passionate people. Working together to create amazing products to support and bolster farmers and the community. We are a women owned, 90% women operated bakery. We find purpose in creating a healthy, comfortable and all inclusive work environment.
Our goal is to create a dynamic and open creative-space, where chefs can use what comes in from the market weekly. Create something for our menu from scratch and learn and expand there skills.
We are looking for bakers & pastry chefs with experince in handling fermented doughs, laminated doughs, cookies, and a range of other baked goods, and can work in fast paced envirnment. Qualified individuals should possess a strong attention to detail, organization and cleanliness. In addition to technical kitchen skill, the individual must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to be a strong team collaborator.
This job is an overnight job, start times range from 10pm- to midnight and end 8hrs later. We work weekends but you'll have 2 days off in a row. This job demands endurance, semi heavy lifting, and requires you be on your feet.
You will be responsable for baking off 300 loaves in a deck oven and hundreds of pastry throughout the night. You'll also mix small batches of dough, mix leavens and learn the start to fermented doughs in a growing bakery !
