Basic Purpose:
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, and automated production equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This position requires strong industrial electrical knowledge and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision while ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting production goals.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment, electrical systems, machinery, and facility infrastructure.
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established PM programs and accurately document all completed work.
- Install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems, motors, control panels, and production equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and perform corrective repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Support production operations by ensuring plant equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.
- Generate, complete, and close work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assist with established preventive maintenance activities and identify opportunities for equipment and process improvements.
- Program, troubleshoot, and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Servo Motor Drives.
- Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), robotics systems, electrical controls, sensors, and automation equipment.
- Read, interpret, and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical manuals, and maintenance work orders.
- Accurately use, read, and understand precision testing and diagnostic equipment, including but not limited to multimeters, meggers, clamp meters, and oscilloscopes.
- Perform equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities as required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation in a timely manner.
- Mentor and train existing and new maintenance employees on proper maintenance and electrical troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Controls, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, control circuits, and automation equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, servo drives, and electrical control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
