Overview
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and sanitary work environment in all assigned areas of the facility. Under the direction of the Department Supervisor, this position performs routine cleaning and disinfection tasks in offices, restrooms, break rooms, kitchen areas, and other common areas. The Janitor helps ensure a clean and professional workplace, promoting employee health and safety.
Main Responsibilities:
- Clean and disinfect offices, workstations, common areas, and other assigned areas.
- Clean, disinfect, and restock restrooms, including sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, and floors.
- Empty trash cans and properly dispose of waste.
- Clean and disinfect break room areas, kitchens, tables, countertops, sinks, microwaves, refrigerators, and other commonly used surfaces.
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and performing general cleaning tasks.
- Restock cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other necessary items.
- Keep cleaning equipment in good condition and store it safely.
- Regularly inspect assigned areas to identify cleaning needs or potential maintenance issues.
- Immediately report damaged equipment, broken items, unsafe conditions, or repair needs to the Supervisor or Manager.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and notify the Supervisor when orders need to be placed.
- Follow established cleaning schedules, work instructions, and sanitation procedures.
- Safely use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain a professional and respectful attitude while working in the administrative and office areas.
- Comply with all safety, quality, environmental and company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and support other departments as assigned by management.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in cleaning, janitorial, maintenance, or similar work is preferred, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning, sanitation and use of cleaning equipment.
- Ability to safely handle chemicals and cleaning supplies.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Reliability, responsibility and ability to work independently.
- Basic communication skills.
