We are seeking a detailed oriented part time payroll specialist to join our growing public accounting firm. This role focuses on processing client payroll through ADP Run, supporting payroll compliance and assisting with general bookkeeping tasks.
This position is ideal for someone looking to grow within the firm. As the company expands, the role has the potential to transition to full time and eventually evolve into the payroll department lead, overseeing payroll operations, supporting staff training, and helping refine processes.
Key Responsibilities:
PAYROLL
Process accurate and timely client payrolls using ADP Run
Maintain payroll records, employee changes, and wage adjustments
Respond to client payroll questions and provide exceptional service
Ensure compliance with federal and state and local payroll regulations
ACCOUNTING
Record financial transactions in client accounting system (E.g. QuickBooks Online, Xero)
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
Assist with accounts payable and basic financial reporting
Support month end closing activities for bookkeeping clients
GROWTH & LEADERSHIP (Future)
Train and mentor new payroll team members as the department grows
Help refine payroll workflows, SOPs, and client onboarding processes
Support the development of department best practices and quality control
Take on higher level responsibilities such as payroll compliance reviews and interdepartmental coordination
Qualifications
1-3 years of payroll experience
Basic bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to think outside the box
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Team player and positive attitude always
Knowledge of payroll tax rules and wage laws preferred
Interest in long term growth and leadership opportunities
Quick learner and technology savvy
Schedule
Part time: 32 hours per week (customize as needed)
