Job Title: Lease Operator II
Location: Ardmore, OK
Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off | 40-hour workweek with potential OT

Position Overview
The Lease Operator II is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and monitoring of wells, processing units, and associated production facilities. This role requires strong experience with oil, gas, and water separation equipment and the ability to perform both routine and non-routine operations in the field. Candidates with experience in new facility startup, commissioning, and early-phase operations are highly preferred.
This position directly supports field production, facility optimization, safe work permitting, and daily operational reliability across a large development project.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
• Ensure personal and co-worker safety; follow and enforce all safety rules
• Issue Safe Work Permits (SWPs) with strong understanding of equipment status and hazards
• Perform gas testing and atmospheric monitoring as needed
• Inspect safety valves, extinguishers, hoses, SCBA units, and emergency equipment
• Follow environmental procedures to minimize emissions, spills, and impacts
Operations Monitoring
• Serve as primary operational contact for assigned facilities
• Understand process flow, unit chemistry, equipment lineups, isolation points, and unit safety systems
• Use computer-generated data and schematics to optimize process conditions
• Gauge tanks, read meters, record production data, and take product samples
• Monitor differential pressures, chemical injection rates, leak points, freeze points, and overheating
Field Inspections & Maintenance
• Perform visual inspections using sight, sound, smell, and touch to identify abnormalities
• Adjust operating parameters (pressure, temperature, flow, etc.) to stay within specifications
• Check control valve positions and ensure proper configuration
• Conduct basic maintenance: adding lube oil, tightening valve packing, changing filters, clearing equipment, etc.
• Perform winterization and summerization of equipment for optimal performance
Production Coordination
• Communicate with the Production Foreman regarding operational changes, issues, and adjustments
• Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling
• Maintain accurate paper or digital gauge sheets; log reasons for production changes
• Maintain and care for company vehicle
Business Improvement & Support
• Participate in emergency response activities
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in operations, safety, and environmental performance
• Maintain high reliability through consistent attendance, teamwork, and communication
Skills and Qualifications
Required:
• High School Diploma
• Previous oil & gas operations or lease operator experience
• Ability to maintain, operate, and repair surface production equipment
• Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to callouts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Computer proficiency (data entry, monitoring equipment, reporting)
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
• Must be able to lift >50 lbs., climb ladders/stairways, and work in varying conditions
• Ability to use SCBA equipment and other detectors as required
Preferred:
• College degree or technical certification
