Position Summary
The Early Childhood Educator supports a high-quality Prekindergarten program serving four-year-old children in a special education classroom. This position works collaboratively with special educators, related service providers, and families to create an inclusive classroom environment that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and academic growth of all learners. The educator will implement developmentally appropriate practices aligned with Vermont Early Learning Standards while supporting children with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate instruction and play-based learning experiences for four-year-old children.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young learners.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those with identified disabilities or developmental delays.
- Collaborate with special educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other service providers to support inclusive early childhood practices.
- Use authentic assessment tools and observational data to monitor student growth and inform instruction.
- Maintain regular communication with families to support strong home-school partnerships and family engagement.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including child find, evaluation planning, and IEP meetings as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to student progress, assessments, and compliance requirements.
- Implement classroom management strategies that support positive behavior and social-emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with district and community partners to support high-quality early childhood programming.
- Participate in professional development and district initiatives to continuously improve practice.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, early childhood assessment, and inclusive instructional strategies.
- Understanding of IDEA regulations and special education processes preferred.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and family engagement skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Vermont Educator License with endorsement in Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 3) or Early Childhood Special Education, or the ability to obtain, required. Dual endorsement in both Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, preferred.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3 -5) in inclusive settings, preferred.
Salary : $47,252 - $92,401
