Position Summary

The Disaster Repair Support Coordinatoris a temporary position funded through the National Dislocated Worker Grant (NDWG). They are responsible for overseeing all housing repair and reconstruction projects conducted by Rutherford Long Term Recovery Group. This position manages project support, contractor coordination, and volunteer efforts to ensure Hurricane Helene disaster-impacted households receive safe, quality, and timely repairs. The Disaster Repair Support Coordinator works closely with case managers, homeowners, contractors, volunteers, and community partners to address unmet recovery needs resulting from Hurricane Helene. The position combines construction support, project coordination, and community service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Support

  • Conduct home assessments and determine repair and reconstruction needs due to Hurricane Helene.
  • Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, and project timelines.
  • Maintain project files, photographs, contracts, and closeout documentation.
  • Assisting with debris removal and site cleanup
  • Assisting set up and breakdown of work sites

Contractor and Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, schedule, and support contractors, subcontractors, and volunteer crews.
  • Providing onsite support to volunteers for Hurricane Helene recovery projects.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and equipment needs
  • Regular travel throughout Rutherford County.

Client Relations

  • Serve as the primary construction contact for homeowners.
  • Work collaboratively with disaster case managers to address client concerns and barriers.
  • Ensure homeowners receive respectful and compassionate service throughout the repair process.

Program Administration

  • Participate in the Construction Committee.
  • Develop relationships with community partners, suppliers, and local agencies.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and response activities due to Hurricane Helene.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; construction-related certification or degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years of residential construction, repair management, or project management experience.
  • Knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and estimating.
  • Experience supervising contractors, volunteers, or construction crews.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project tracking software.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in disaster recovery, nonprofit housing, or long-term recovery operations.
  • Knowledge of FEMA, NC VOAD, and disaster recovery funding requirements.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and low-income households.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk active construction sites.
  • Ability to climb ladders and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
