What are the responsibilities and job description for the Saturday AM Family Advocate position at Ruth's House?
About the Role

If that resonates with you, we'd love to meet you.
As a Family Advocate, you'll be a steady, compassionate presence in the lives of residents navigating difficult times. This role is about showing up for a child who wants to play, for a resident who needs someone to listen, and for a community that depends on people who care.
A Typical Saturday Shift Might Include:

- Playing peek-a-boo and spending meaningful time with children in the home
- Sharing a meal with residents and building genuine relationships
- Answering phones and directing inquiries professionally
- Assisting residents with paperwork and navigating essential processes
- Listening to and supporting residents as they share their stories
- Performing light housekeeping to maintain a clean, welcoming environment
- Recording and organizing donation intake
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents
- Modeling healthy communication and positive interpersonal behavior
What We're Looking For
- A warm, patient, and reliable individual who genuinely enjoys being around people
- Someone who can hold space for others without judgment
- Comfortable working independently and using good judgment
- Strong communication skills with both residents and team members
- Prior experience in social services, childcare, or residential settings is a plus, but not required
Schedule
- Saturdays only: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Ideal for someone looking for consistent weekend work with meaningful impact
Why This Role Matters
Our residents are working hard to build stability for themselves and their families. Family Advocates play a quiet but powerful role in that journey not by solving every problem, but by being present, kind, and consistent. Many of our advocates find this work deeply fulfilling, often discovering the residents shape them just as much in return.
