Rust Automation and Controls is a family-owned industrial instrumentation and automation sales company founded in 1976 and headquartered in West Jordan, Utah. We serve industries including oil and gas, water and wastewater, power generation, manufacturing, food and beverage, and life sciences, offering products, application support, training, and ongoing service.



Position Overview

Position: Experienced Inside Sales

Location: West Jordan UT

Rust Automation & Controls is seeking an experienced Inside Sales Representative with a strong technical background to support our customers and drive business growth. In this in-office role, you will leverage your in-depth knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, and control products to provide advanced technical support, develop tailored solutions, and partner closely with outside sales teams. Key responsibilities include preparing precise and technically accurate quotations, managing complex orders, and ensuring seamless coordination between customers, vendors, and internal teams. This position requires proven experience in a technical sales or applications support role, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly. 


Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical, application, and product support.
  • Proficient in product selection and application.
  • Understanding of PID data to provide appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to be a resource for teammates and willing to share knowledge. 
  • Field visits to customer sites for relationship development, training, and driving sales.
  • Owns and directly manages certain sales initiates to drive business directly with customers.

  • Actively seeks information to understand customer circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs
  • Acts independently and on own initiative
  • Uses understanding of customer needs to initiate solutions
  • Implement customer feedback to improve overall experience and prevent issues from occurring
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents and bid specifications
  • Ability to effectively present information in a clear and organized manner, and respond professionally and appropriately to questions of managers, reps, and customers
