What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Medical Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist- Clinics position at RUSSELLVILLE HOSPITAL?
Position Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist will ensure all pending and denied claims are being worked and resubmitted to the appropriate payer. Works with billing staff to determine why claims are being denied and what can be done to reduce future denials. Will run, review, and share weekly AR reports to ensure outstanding claims are being worked in a timely manner and ensure any write off's / adjustments are being correctly coded to the appropriate adjustment code.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Experience:
Must have computer skills, some medical terminology background, good communication skills with insurance companies and patients regarding billing issues.
Complexity of Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to oversee and answer questions related to claim creation and payment posting. Work insurance denials and make appropriate corrections to be rebilled. Must work the aging reports related to insurance and patient balances.
Job Functions:
- Continuously work denied and rejected claims
- Work any unpaid claims to get them correctly entered and resubmitted to the correct payer.
- Educate CBO office on common denials and unpaid claims so we can accurately submit claims.
- Work with insurance companies on unpaid claims to get claim processed correctly and paid.
- Weekly reporting to determine frequent visits, Medicaid out of visits, duplicate visits, and any other visit types that delay processing time and payment.
- Demonstrates strong patient satisfaction skills.
- Demonstrates understanding of retrieving BCBS, Medicare and Medicaid eligibility using on-line services.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
- Demonstrates ability to use copy machine, fax, telephone and adding machine.
- Locate and use department SDS, infection control, fire and emergency manuals.
- Can describe roles/functions of: administration, nursing supervisor, security and other departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director
- Uses time efficiently. Prioritizes work well.
- Reports for scheduled shift on time; prepared to assume duties.
- Reports to work in proper uniform or attire.
- Varies work schedule or shift, (working overtime, leaves early when requested, works shifts other than regularly scheduled as required) to meet department staffing needs.
