Russell Barbecue is a growing, family-run craft barbecue spot in Sheffield, AL. We take food safety seriously, keep a clean kitchen, and take care of each other while we take care of guests.

The Role

This is a cleaning-focused position. Your main job is keeping the kitchen and dining room clean, safe, and ready for service.

During slower moments, you’ll jump in to help with basic food prep.

SET SCHEDULE - MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR THESE FULL SHIFTS

• Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Thursday–Saturday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Sunday: 8:00 AM – Approx 4:00 PM (leave after closing tasks complete)

Pay Growth

• $12/hour starting pay tip pool (tip pool usually an extra $3-6 /hr)
• Raise opportunity every 3 months during your first year (based on performance, reliability, and attitude)

What You’ll Do

Cleaning & Dish

• Wash dishes by hand
• Wash kitchen equipment and tools
• Clean and sanitize prep areas and surfaces
• Sweep and mop floors
• Take out trash and keep BOH organized
• Inventory weekly food/supplies deliveries

Dining Room Support

• Bus tables and help keep the dining room clean and guest-ready

General Help (during downtime)

• Assist with basic food prep, cupping sauces, side dishes, etc as needed (we’ll train you)
• Assist front of house staff with organizing, stocking, etc

What We’re Looking For

• A great attitude and strong work ethic
• Cleanliness food safety minded (you notice details and don’t cut corners)
• Reliable and consistent (we’re a small team and depend on each other)
• Able to work well with others and take coaching

Requirements

• Reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 25 lbs consistently and occasionally move up to 50 lbs
• Food manager certification (ServSafe or equivalent) OR willing to obtain it
• We’ll pay for the class and test if you don’t already have it

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
