What are the responsibilities and job description for the Multi‑Axis Mazak Lathe CNC Programmer, Setup & PLC Troubleshooter position at Rusco Manufacturing?

If turning concepts into precise parts is your craft, this role lets you lead the entire process. You’ll program directly at Mazak controls (Mazatrol or G‑code), build robust setups, validate first‑piece samples, and keep production stable and in tolerance. Your decisions on tooling, offsets, and machine parameters will drive quality and throughput.
Your impact
- Create and refine Mazatrol/G‑code programs at the machine from engineering blueprints, then execute complete setups.
- Install fixtures, establish tool registers and offsets, and configure machine control settings for reliable cycles.
- Run first‑piece sample parts; verify dimensions and finishes to drawings with GD&T.
- Continuously monitor operations, diagnose malfunctions, and adjust tools/feeds/speeds/offsets to control the process.
Platforms & tech stack
- Mazak controls: T‑32, T , Fusion, Matrix, and Smooth Control
- CAM tools: Mastercam and Mazatrol
- Equipment scope: 2‑, 3‑, and 4‑axis CNC lathes; CNC Swiss (Star)
What you bring
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Production manufacturing experience; 3–5 years preferred.
- Fluent in G‑code and M‑code; strong CNC programming capability.
- Proven production setup skills for repeatable, efficient runs.
- PLC troubleshooting and PLC programming proficiency.
- Experience on Mazak CNC lathes (2–4 axis) and with CAM software.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and inspection to print.
- Exposure to live tooling and Y‑axis is a significant plus.
