RuralEdge, the premier affordable housing developer and provider for the Northeast Kingdom is seeking an experienced administrative for our main office, located in St. Johnsbury, VT. This position will provide a variety of administrative support to all departments of the organization. This person will often be the first business contact with new or existing customers and should be prepared to consistently provide professional interactions when greeting customers, clients, and stakeholders. This position requires considerable initiative, independent judgment, discretion and a positive attitude.

Job Overview

  • Answer the telephone and route calls to the appropriate party.
  • Administer incoming and outgoing mail, to including opening and date stamping all mail before distributing to mailboxes.
  • Maintain phone system for after hours and holidays.
  • In collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor, maintain an on-call calendar and provide the on-call schedule weekly to answering service.
  • Maintain list of stocked office supplies; keep office supplies stocked; take requests for supplies; take regular inventory of supplies and order supplies for main and satellite offices as needed.
  • Respond to requests from visitors or callers for information about rental housing and mail applications.
  • Process rental applications to include data entry, waitlist management, customer correspondence, etc.
  • Log requests for maintenance, create work orders in Property Management software; print work order and distribute to Maintenance Supervisor; close work orders when completed.
  • Contact Maintenance Technicians with maintenance emergencies.
  • Prepare tenant mailings as needed.
  • Support staff by completing photocopying, mailings, data entry, word processing, filing or working on special projects as needed.
  • Serve as primary contact for various Service providers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A successful candidate must have the following expertise and experience:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent, and at least one (1) year experience in progressively responsible clerical and secretarial work or any equivalent combination of training or experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with limited supervision. This position requires professional conduct at all times.
  • Confidentiality is a core component in all business practices.
  • Written and oral communication skills are essential to be successful in this position.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detailed work habits.
  • Computer knowledge and comfort, including MS Word, Excel, web-based email systems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, effectively, and efficiently with a diverse group of people in a team environment.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and automobile insurance per State of Vermont.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
