Machinist

Machinist sets up and operates manually controlled machines including lathe, vertical mill, drill press, hydraulic press, saws and a variety of cutting tools and equipment, with the ability to produce quality precision components in a timely manner.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
• Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
• Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements, including micrometers, dial gages, and threading wires.
• Uses precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling, machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, and various cutting tools and equipment.
• Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures, and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment while maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
• Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  
  

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to operate the following machines: Engine Lathe, Vertical Mill, Horizontal Mill, Drill Press, Band Saw.
• Ability to use the following machining tools: Micrometers - ID and OD. Calipers - Digital, Dial and Vermer. Thread Measuring Wires to Thread Diameter. Threads Pitch Gage.
• Ability to use Machinist Handbook to determine proper thread sizes.
• Ability to measure existing parts to machine new.
• Ability to perform own machining set-ups using blocks, jigs, fixtures, etc.
• Ability to select appropriate tooling to complete machining duties.
• Ability to machine new threads and chase existing threads.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  
  
  

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
